Role summary and primary responsibilities


Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager the role of Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer is to provide Quality Engineering support to
suppliers and subcontractors in addition to the manufacturing departments within IrvinGQ Ltd. They will be required to use
appropriate quality knowledge and tools to manage the supply base and where necessary audit with respect to industry standards
ISO 9001, AS9100 and other customer requirements.


Primary responsibilities:

  • Supplier Approval, by audit and data analysis
  • Lead problem solving activity ideally using 8D, 5 Why and Six sigma
  • Lead and Support failure investigations
  • Manage Test house personnel and activities including but not limited to Goods Inwards inspection
  • Participate in various continuous improvement initiatives
  • Co-ordination and resolution of all supplier non-conformances (SNC / SCAR)
  • Carry out specific process audits to investigate failures
  • Maintain a robust supplier development programme
  • Support internal audits when required e.g. 3rd party audits
  • Develop good working relationships throughout the internal and external supply chain
  • Report the performance of Supplier and subcontractor performance

Essential Qualifications and skills

  • Demonstrable understanding and expertise in the use of quality tools SPC, 8D, 5 Why and Six sigma (desirable) Problem solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
  • An achiever, able to co-ordinate and lead small groups to solve quality issues to their conclusion
  • Capable of working in a multi- disciplined team and carrying out a variety of required tasks
  • Effective communicator, confident in the delivery of presentations to the team, board members and external parties
  • Able to represent the company in a professional manner
  • Experience of conflict and crisis management
  • Able to work independently
  • Proven track record in working with and developing subcontractors and supplier
  • Degree in Engineering related subject or able to demonstrate a proven track record with relevant experience
  • Auditing experience is essential
  • Good technical and analytical skills
  • Experience in the implementation of quality systems
  • Good understanding of purchasing requirements and techniques

Advantageous skills and experience

  • The ability to speak a foreign language would also be desirable but is not essential

Other considerations

  • Able to hold a UK SC security clearance
  • UK driving license
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the UK and overseas
